Expired Motor Policy: Renewal, Inspection and Coverage

5 August 20264 min readVimawallah

Understand what may happen when a vehicle policy expires and why early renewal is usually better.

An expired motor policy can usually be renewed, but the process may require vehicle photographs, inspection or additional verification depending on the insurer and length of the break.

There is no own-damage protection during the uninsured period. Coverage starts only after the proposal is accepted and the policy is issued according to the insurer's terms.

A long break can also affect continuity benefits and may create additional documentation requirements. Renewing before expiry helps avoid these complications.

Keep your RC, previous policy and KYC details ready to make the renewal process faster.

Important note

This article provides general information. Final coverage, premium, exclusions and claim decisions depend on the issued policy and insurer terms.
